The picture in picture technique is often one we turn to when we have portrait format images that we wish to include in a landscape format slide show. However, it can often be used just for creative effect.
While we will be working in Photoshop the techniques we describe can be carried out the same in Photoshop Elements. We cover the crop tool size technique and also describe how to make a preset for use again and again in our digital AV.
We also show how to use rulers and guides if you want your picture in picture technique to have some order. We work in layers and explain how to reduce the inset images to the perfect size. We also introduce you to a new tool in Photoshop called "Smart Objects" which is perfect for our AV picture in picture technique.
We demonstrate layer styles to further separate our inset images from the base image. We include lots of other tips and shortcuts along the way, including a great way to select a layer without even opening the layers palette. We even introduce shortcuts in PTE.
We program our demonstration images to music in PTE using the Time Line to create our demo slide show
