Sometimes when shooting
our pictures the weather lets us down and the result is
a bald white sky as you can see below. All is not lost,
as it is relatively easy to use a sky from one picture with
the foreground from another. It is always a good idea to
shoot the occasional sky shot whenever you see something
interesting for use in later pictures.

Open the layers palette
from the palette well or via the F7 key and change the name
of your background thumbnail as we have shown below.

Select the sky area using
the magic wand tool from the toolbar, which is perfect for
selecting bald skies. So click into the sky area and if
it is not all selected in one go, hold down the Shift key,
which allows us to add to a selection. The Alt key removes
a selection if you make an error.
When the sky is fully selected
feather the edge of your selection via the menu bar and
Select-feather. Between 1 and 2 pixels is usually enough
and hit Ctrl+X to cut out the unwanted sky and your image
should look like ours below

It is a simple task now
to import a sky from another image. Open the sky image of
your choice and with both images on screen select the move
tool from the toolbar. Click into the foreground image and
drag and drop it into the new sky image as you can see below.
You can see how the same
techniques can be used on many images such as the one below
