More Information

Click the button below and download our example. Unzip the files, but leave all the files in the folder they are unzipped to. Double click the start.exe file and the menu will run. In our final example we include an autorun file so that the menu page auto boots from a CD, DVD or even a USB stick. Please note that because this is a downloaded demo you may see that annoying warning message each time you click to launch a slide show, but that will not be present with the version you create.

Here is a question we have seen a hundred times on forums and in our own emails :- How do we use PicturesToExe to create a menu that will open other slide shows. A valid question and one we will answer in our video. This is quite a good idea for a number of reasons. If we are giving a talk or lecture, being able to start various slide shows from one menu, not only looks professional, but it helps us to keep organized too. We can write our menu and slide shows to a DVD or CD and have that disk auto booting directly to our menu. This is great, not only for us, but also when we are sending our slide shows to others, who may need a little help in launching slide shows. Practically every disk we buy these days will self boot, so we need to make ours do the same.

We can use buttons to launch as many slide shows as we want, but here we demonstrate how to create a menu using thumbnail taken from our slide shows. We can add headers and titles and/or other information on our menu page. We only create a one page menu in this tutorial, but you can expand that to other pages if you wish. So here we take you through the creation of the artwork, making the menu and the buttons in PTE and writing them to CD. We have included an autorun file with our download so you have everything in this tutorial to create your menu.

The area that causes the most problems for people creating menus is getting the address string to the slide shows right. Have you tried this, only to get your menu working perfectly on the PC in your tests, but not when you write them to a CD or DVD? We know what the problem is and we are pretty confident that after watching the video, you will too.
