Creating a Jigsaw
Effect
The Videos runs
for 27 minutes

This is a good tutorial for the
newer user of Photoshop Elements 7 as it covers
a number of different techniques and disciplines
that help us to learn. The end result is a picture
that is creative and eye catching, if we get things
right. It's also a good tutorial because we need
to use layers to achieve the end result and layers
are probably the most important part of Photoshop
Elements 7. So, any reason we have to get into layers
to create an image is a good thing in itself.
Like all Photoshop techniques we
need to choose the right image for this to work
well. It needs to be one where the composition allows
the effect to enhance that composition and the subject
matter needs to be right too. Nothing too detailed
or fussy or the jigsaw texture can be lost. If you
try to apply the jigsaw texture, you may not be
able to locate it, but in this video we not only
explain where it is and how to use it, but also
how the image resolution effects the texture.
The image we chose is Death Valley
California, it does breaks the usual rule of thirds
composition, but then at times it is right to break
those rules and this image is the right one to do
that. Our start and finished images are included
in this download, but copyright remains with Beckham
Digital. The files are only included to allow you
to follow the tutorial with the same images as we
did, if you wish.
With a few simple techniques we can produce an eye
catching image
